I had such a marvelous time this past Saturday night at the Art & Folk show at The 109 Gallery, a bright new art gallery in nearby Chickamauga, GA. It’s got a fresh coat of paint and a modern chic refreshments bar, but still has that old charm of a classic southern downtown (complete with exposed brickwork!). The show featured a number of regional artists sharing mixed media, painting, woodworking, and even a bit of visual storytelling.
Three of my block print pieces were accepted into the show (and they looked soooo good on the brick!) and as a result I got to give an artist talk with some incredibly skilled artists, learned about some new techniques in art-making in a variety of mediums, sold a work of art, enjoyed fabulous conversation and even made a couple new friends… I'd say that is a winning evening all around!
I’m seriously looking forward to many more events in this new art space! If you're in the Chatta / North Georgia area definitely make a point to come down to adorable Chickamauga and visit the gallery at 109 Gordon St. across the street from the Visitor’s Center Museum.
