How to Write an About Me Page for Artists

February 07, 2021 in Art Biz Advice, Tutorials, YouTube Tutorials

Do you have your 'About Me' page set up on your website yet? Do you know that it's different than your bio or artist statement? Well don't worry at all because your Birdie is going to to break down your About Me page into easy bite-sized chunks that will make it an absolute breeze to write.

Your Bio is more of a professional write up, your About Me is more about you as a human and artist, and your Artist Statement is more about a specific body of work. None of these should be too long, nor are they too difficult to write if you just follow a few simple guidelines

Want to read my own Bio + About Me? https://www.caleighbirdart.com/about

Here's my Bio video and my Artist Statement video and even a whole playlist about writing about your art!

If you need any one-on-one help, remember I’m here for art + art biz mentoring via Zoom :)

Feature on Anchored Scraps Blog

February 04, 2021

Wow, what a delightful surprise to learn that my long-term client Helen decided to feature me on her special letter writing blog this week!

If you have been here for a while, you may remember how much I adore sending snail mail. I actually did a video about that passion a few years ago which Helen discovered on my YouTube which began our lovely and inspiring mentoring relationship last July.

Helen is also extremely passionate about letter writing - so much so that she has dedicated the last six years to blogging (daily for five, and now twice weekly) all about the joys of connecting kindred souls through traditional letter writing. Anchored Scraps is a friendly and nostalgia-filled space bursting with more fancy fountain pens, cute stamps, and inspiring correspondence ideas than you could ever dream of!

It’s been a real pleasure brainstorming together and figuring out ways to help her two websites shine. Helen’s enthusiasm and willingness to jump all in with her projects and goals is refreshing and invigorating, so even though I am the one mentoring her, she is also very inspiring to me as well!

Here’s the awesome write-up Helen posted on her blog this week. She really went above and beyond and shared so many of my offerings with her readers - what an amazing boost for a small creator like myself!

January 10, 2021 in Tutorials, YouTube Tutorials

Do you know how to properly clean up and dispose of old paint and rags once you've finished oil painting? Cleaning up is one of the more nerve-wracking components of oil painting for many newbies since it deals with chemicals that could pose a potential danger to you and your studio.

Have no fear though, your Birdie is going to break down exactly how to safely and effectively clean up your brushes, your paint palette, and even how to clean out your turpenoid jar when the time comes.

The Nest is Moving....

January 08, 2021 in Artist Diary

I've got big news from the Nest… it’s moving three states away! I got an unbelievably amazing job offer so I packed Vaughn up with everything I own and am off to the next great adventure!

I’m not telling folks exactly what the job is here or on my socials yet. I want to feel a little more ‘at home’ there before I do. However, I am letting my Birds of a Feather monthly letter readers in on it now so if you’re a little curious what could make me leave Florida less than three weeks after returning and where I’m ending up, pop right over here;)

Travels through O'ahu :: Adventures + Artwork

December 20, 2020 in Aloha, Adventure, YouTube Videos

Welcome back to my second home of O'ahu! I'm so thrilled to have just had the opportunity to spend 7 whole weeks camping, hiking, beaching, painting, and visiting friends on the beloved island I decided to leave just one year ago.

What can I say..? I didn't move away from Hawai'i because I didn't like it!

Visiting close friends and adventuring through the island is such a blissful existence. If you haven’t put it on your list yet, maybe a few more photos will help seal the deal..
